A straight-forward and easy-to-use interface
The simple and intuitive interface is very similar to Windows Explorer. To copy files by drag and drop is familiar to most people.
Often used hosts can be pre configured to provide easy single click access.
Copy files securely from your computer to remote hosts or download from remote locations to your computer. This is a replacement for using FTP where you send your password in the open - without any protection, for the whole world to see - on the Internet (more information here).
TightVNC is a popular client for remote graphical user interface connections, but it is unsafe to use unless the data is encrypted. Secure iXplorer integrates this client and automatically encrypts the communication (using a tunnel).
Safe remote execution of commands
The Telnet protocol for connecting to a remote computer in a terminal window is completely unsafe. With Secure iXplorer it is easy to open a terminal window connection just like with Telnet, but with the difference that the communication is safely encrypted.
Secure iXplorer is tightly integrated with Putty and TightVNC making it very easy for you to copy files or open a graphical window or terminal session to any of the hosts in your list.
Last but not least, Secure iXplorer is built on open source software
The full security functionality used by Secure iXplorer is contained in the open source utilities from Putty (home page) "pscp", "psftp" and "plink". Renown security expert Bruce Schneier writes in one of his newsletters (full text):
"As a cryptography and computer security expert, I have never understood the current fuss about the open source software movement. In the cryptography world, we consider open source necessary for good security; we have for decades. Public security is always more secure than proprietary security...
